Kōnen Sakamoto Galleries

Kōnen (1800-1853) was a botanist and botanical ilustrator whose art included many picture books. The titles of three of these books are shown below. Click on a title to see the book's pictures. He typically drew his picture subjects accurately but the species depicted are diificult to identify because most the the Japanese plant names given are no longer used.
